Renters Guide offers two types of memberships: Standard and Premium.

Standard membership is free and you don't need to do anything other than fill out the rental application form. Most owners and landlords will require some type of screening or credit check, which you may be responsible to cover the costs of. Renters Guide offers tenant screening at the cost of $24, which is valid for 6 months. If you plan to apply to more than one rental (which is recommended), this screening will be valid for each application submitted through Renters Guide.

Premium Members receives a complementary Renters Guide screening as well as many other features. Please explore all your options below!

Standard Membership:

A free resource to find rentals, having 1 valid application for all rentals applied to through Renters Guide and the opportunity to avoid having to pay multiple application fees, which are non-refundable.

Description:
The Standard Membership is the free account offered on RentersGuide.org for all prospective renters. Members receive access to full listings of rental properties that match their preferences. Renters have the ability to create a list of properties that they would like more information on or wish to schedule site visits of favored rental units.

Standard membership applicants are not screened, so when a match is made between renters and rental properties, the applicant may be required to go through a screening process. This is not associated with the free RentersGuide.org service or membership. Applicants are aware that they may be charged to be screened and may do so independently through each landlord or representing property manager. Applying to multiple units may incur multiple screening fees. (Average tenant screening charge: $10-15)

Renters Guide offers all members the chance to prescreen themselves. The cost for the applicant screening service is $24 and is valid for 6 months. This will cover the requirements necessary when attempting to lease properties listed through RentersGuide.org

Premium Membership:

An extended profile to increase relevance of property matches, the option to expand matches to include properties that were disqualified by negotiable preferences, scheduling priority for site visits, complimentary application screening, account enhancements to increase the strength of a profiles verification and qualification to receive the $5/member referral bonus of having someone upgrade to the Premium Membership.

The alternative account offered to renters is the Premium Membership. This membership has all the features of the standard accounts with several upgrades. Premium applicants have an extended profile available for customization and better filters to narrow property searches to specific requirements.

Along with the standard alerts, members have the option to receive On-The-Fence alerts, which give the opportunity to review rentals that barely missed meeting the preferences.

When requesting to view rental properties, premium members have priority placement in the scheduling of site visits. This is an important benefit because the chance of occupancy is very high for the first group of renters that are scheduled for showings.

Premium members will also receive complimentary tenant screening. This service is a $24 value and is valid for 6 months. It includes a background check, credit/financial review, employment/education verification and interviewing references. Having a profile prescreened has the biggest impact on improving the chance of being selected from a pool of potential renters.

Members have access to a character questionnaire and identity verification options that will increase their profile strength. The more detailed an applicant's account profile is, the less the owner or property manager needs to do prior to approving tenancy.

When applying to various rentals, premium members have scheduling priority and if approved for housing, are not delayed by a screening period and have the option to sign a lease immediately.

The premium membership includes a complimentary credit report. This report does not count towards the federally mandated "free credit report" which is given to all US citizens.
